What a fun busy week.. it seems that they go faster each week. I started out my week on Monday going to the movie "The Proposal", with my friend Connie. Then my grandson Logan's all star baseball game. Wonderful game, cool evening in New River and Logan pitched for 2 innings and hit each time he was up to bat.
Tuesday my daughter Kristan asked if I would be willing to take her two youngest boys to the movies and get them out of the house for a little while so she could get her scrapbook garage sale all organized.. We went to see "UP". What a fun movie.. Laughed all the way through..

Wednesday evening was my monthly "All About Me" class. With the themes of "My Wedding Day", and "My childhood bedroom".. I love to teach this class, we share our journaling and talk about the pages we put together and the reason for each picture. It is so fun to learn all about the girls in the class.

Thursday was the second little league all star game for Logan.. I picked up Logan and Zack another grandson and drove them up to the game. The boys were so cute on the ride up..so full of energy.
Friday evening my daughter-in-law Karen called and asked if I would like to go to the Diamondbacks game.. As you know I love baseball, so I said sure would.. We had great seats, just above 1st base and the evening was so much fun.. We lost, but I didn't care.. After the game they had a fireworks show.. Was a great evening..

This weekend I have been working on the samples for my up-coming card classes. I have the "embossed card class" this week and my two regular card classes next week. It seems like I just finish one class and I have to get prepped for the next one.. do love to teach classes..

This is my grandson Logan, he is 10 years old today. He is my daughters youngest one and one of my younger grandchildren. He is going into the 5th grade this fall. He is a sports enthusiast to the max. If you need the stats on any team in any sport Logan is the one to ask. He Loves playing basketball & baseball. He made the All Star team for his age in little league and last night was their first game.. Logan hit every time he was up to bat.. made it on base 4 times and the last one was a fly out in right field. He plays 1st & 3rd base and also pitches. Last night he pitched for 2 innings. The afternoon yesterday was SO HOT.. but the game was up in New River about 45 minutes north and so the weather in the evening was very nice.

I have been working on my class samples this last week for my up-coming classes. I have "All About Me", tomorrow evening and then next Weds. I have my Embossed Card Class.

Yesterday Connie and I went to see the movie "The Proposal". . . great movie..loved it.. Want to go see it again.

Going to the movies this afternoon with Coleton and birthday boy Logan to see "UP".. Kristan is prepping for her huge garage sale and wanted me to get the boys out of her hair for awhile..beside I really wanted to see the movie too.

1,388 miles

Last Friday Kristan, Don & I took off for Morgan & Trent's wedding reception in Montrose, Colorado. We left around 6 am and headed north. We were using both map quest and a GPS system, since we were going on roads that were new to us. We headed to Flagstaff and then took an easterly direction toward the 4 corners region. ( Utah, New Mexico, Colorado & Arizona). The weather was beautiful and the drive was easy. When we reached Cortez, Colorado the GPS system didn't alert us for the expected turn and we headed for Durango instead of the shorter route thru Telluride, we thought; well that is OK because the scenery was beautiful and I was feeling good driving and it would only be an extra 35 minutes.. HA. . . not so. on the N.W. side of Durango we spotted the mountains above and I was sure they would have double lane roads with guard rails to go over these mountains...
I drove on this SCARY CLIFF SIDE ROAD FOR "25" MILES.
The switch backs were SO SHARP and the road was SO NARROW.. with no guard rail or extra edge on the road.. It dropped off at the white line. Now you know how deathly afraid I am of heights ... There was no where to stop or turn around.. We went over three mountains and had to drive 5 miles an hour for fear of going over the edge... My heart was in my throat and I was so scared the entire time.. I just knew if I took my eyes off the road for a second we would plummet down the steep cliff off to the side of the road. At the crest of the highest mountain we were at 12,000 feet, that is higher than airplanes level off when flying. The other two mountains were 10,600 & 10, 800 feet. When at last we were back on regular roads and I swore that if I had to drive that road to go home.. I would sell my car in Montrose and fly back..
There was no way I was repeating that drive "EVER" again..

We had a wonderful time in Montrose with Trent's family. The weather was beautiful and the small town of Montrose is really beautiful with all the tall trees and green.
It is in a valley between the mountains.
We scouted out the alternate routes to go back to Arizona without going over the Red Mountain Pass again. It was decided that we would go up to Grand Junction and then take the I-70 S/W through Utah. We wanted to visit the Armstrong's in Panguitch, Utah. We knew it would be la longer trip, but both Kristan and Don agreed to go along with the plan. We drove through the red rocks of north eastern Utah, and it was beautiful. The roads were wide and the traffic for the most part was light and so we could really clip along. We arrived in Panguitch around noon and had lunch with the family and were back on the road by 1:00. I knew it was 7 more hours to Phoenix.. We arrived in town right about 8pm.. a total of 1,388 miles.
It was a fast fun weekend...

My Week in Review

There are many things I wanted to write about this week, since I use this blog as my journal.
It started out on Monday with me working on the samples for my card classes this coming week. I was able to get 5 finished and really had to struggle with the 6th one.. I discarded 3 samples, that seemed like good ideas until I got them put together.. So I slept on it and on Tuesday morning I was able to create one I loved. So then it was cutting, punching measuring and getting pieces cut for all the kits. I worked a little on this all week and finished yesterday and was able to clean my mess off the dining room table.. Yeah I love to see a clean table.

Tuesday afternoon I looked out my sliding doors to my patio and saw something moving.. much to my surprise I had a baby bunny on my "enclosed" patio. My patio has a 4 foot wall around it and so I couldn't figure out how he got there.. He was only about 4" tall to the top of his ears, so a really tiny bunny. I have a small hole at the bottom of the wall to let out water and it is about 2" square and it must have gotten in that way. He was scared and was trying to jump up over the wall to no avail, so I thought I would just watch from inside and not go out on the patio any more and in a few minutes he was gone.. How he squeezed through that tiny hole is amazing.. but it was fun to have a tiny visitor for awhile.
My beautiful purple bushes were back this week. Every where you looked while driving or walking you saw vibrant purple. The bushes are loaded with these purple blossoms, this is the one just off my patio. They only last a few days & are all gone now, but they will bloom many more times this summer bringing beauty to the landscape around me.
On Thursday I went to "2" ballgames.. both at the same location on 2 different fields. Coleton is in his first year in the majors. So we started at his game and watched for a few innings and then went across the field to see Logan's game. (Coleton won their game).

Logan's dad Don is his coach and their game was the semi-finals in the minor league playoffs. It was a great game.. Very intense and we could hear the crowds across the field at Coleton's game, so we knew it was intense too. I have always wondered what I would do if a hit ball would come toward me...WELL I got to find out in the last inning of Logan's game. We were sitting behind the 4" fence off of 1st base and one of the boys hit a line drive and it was headed right for "ME", I couldn't move, I knew it was going to hit me and I couldn't move.. I had been nursing my right knee and it was starting to feel better after 3 weeks of meds., ice & heat and the ball was going to hit my KNEE. I put my right hand down to see if I could protect my knee and the ball struck both my right wrist and my knee..OUCH ! both are OK thank goodness.. I guess I now know what I would do if a ball was coming toward me.."nothing".

Each evening about sunset there is a guy in a motorized para-sail floating over the golf course out my back view. He is just about 6 to 10 feet off the ground and floats around for about 10 minutes in the evening.. fun to watch.
I have had deja view this week.. My grand kids are all attending the summer movies designed for kids. The theater puts together a package of 8 movies for a great price for summer entertainment for the kids.. When my kids were little we also went to these movies during the summer time many, many years ago.. So I had great memories of the time I spent in the dark theater during those hot summer days in the southwest.

One of the best things that happened this week is that finally they have working traffic lights at the corner of Deer Valley & 56th Street..YEAH.. We have all be waiting so long for this to happen. Now my blood pressure can calm down and I won't have to stress about getting hit when I go in or out of our complex.
I had switched out my bed linens to summer ones and needed some accent pillows to go on my bed, so I ventured to a couple of my favorite stores to see what I could find.. but found nothing. So I decided to make my own. I bought the pillow forms and some fabric and put these together.. Since my furniture in my bedroom is black and I have other black accents black print was my choice.. All done.. love it..
Next week I have my card classes on Weds. and then on Friday Kristan, Don & I are driving to Colorado for the other reception for Morgan & Trent.. Cool weather and beautiful views are anticipated here.
