This past weekend Kristan and I went to the northwest to visit my grandaughter Marissa, who is attending Evergreen College in Olympia, Washington. We arrived in Seattle on Friday afternoon and the weather was cloudy and rainy. My umbrella hasn't been used but a couple of times and it got a workout this weekend.. in fact it bit the dust, I had to put it up and down so much. After we checked in to our hotel we decided to walk to Pike Place Market.. It was just a couple of blocks from where we were staying. On the way in from the airport we noticed the trees and the beautiful foliage that was turning gold, orange and red. It was so beautiful mixed with the dark green in the landscape.
The flower booths were breathtaking..
They had both dried flowers and fresh flowers all for $6.00 or $10.00 a bunch..

The fruit and veggie stands were like paintings.. the colors so vibrant and stocked so full of wonderful things. We had samples of the large crispy apples and pears and of course had to get some to take home. I got a pomegranate larger than a softball.. The atmosphere there was so fun, music and people dancing in the isles and there are hundreds of booths and each one is so unique.
This was on the sidewalk as we walked to Pike Place.
Loved all the colors of the leaves, just like a painting.

I had arranged for our hotel room to be on the waterfront.. We had such an amazing view from our patio. The sailboats were moored right across the street and we could watch the boats and ferries and the "huge" cargo ships right in front of us.
I loved to stand on the patio and watch the boats..
This was the view from our patio! Awesome

On Friday evening we met Marissa and Christopher at the Southcenter Mall for dinner. They live in Olympia so they drove up and we drove down. I used to shop at this mall when we lived in Seattle..way back when.. Of course it didn't look like this then. It was a very rainy trip on the freeway to the mall and rained all evening. We met at Cheesecake Factory for a very fun dinner.
It was so fun to have Marissa right there with us and we had a great evening talking and reminiscing about just everything. After dinner we decided to all go to a movie in the mall. We chose Jim Carey's new movie "A Christmas Carol".. not recommended . . very dark and gloomy.
On Saturday Marissa had to work and Christopher had school so Kristan and I drove down to Olympia and looked around while we waited for Marissa to get off work. She works a a cute diner called Norma's. It is very retro 50's style and all in red, white & blue decor. We decided to go there for lunch and surprise her.. Such a cute place, everyone was so nice and told us just how much they loved Marissa. She was the manager on duty and brought her boss the owner out to meet us. He bought our lunch.. I had a Ruben sandwich and Kristan had a chicken salad.. great food.. Marissa's boss told her to leave and go with us for the rest of the day.. So nice of him.

After we left Norma's we picked up Christopher at Evergreen College and had a rainy tour of a small part of the campus. We then went to downtown Olympia and walked around the cute stores. We asked them where they wanted to go to dinner and they chose a cute little pizza place in their neighborhood called Vick's Pizza.. We ate and talked for several hours and had a great evening. It was late when we dropped them off and headed back up to Seattle. On Sunday we went to church then had lunch in Olympia and before we drove to the airport.
It was a great trip
I loved:
Spending time with Kristan
Spending time Marissa
The ocean view
The amazing beautiful fall colors on the trees
The cooler weather , even the rain
I Love Seattle
