Yesterday I offered to drive Kristan to Tucson to visit 2 of her stores, since her back is in PAIN and her legs and feet are still tingling.. We left Phoenix about 10 a.m. and had a good drive down south, arriving first at Making Memories Unforgettable..This store is under new ownership. Katie who was the manager and ran the store bought it and we were excited to see her and congratulate her on her new endeavor.I just love Katie and her entire staff, it is a fun store to visit. After we left MMU we stopped at Claim Jumper for lunch. One of our favorite spots to have lunch. We then headed north to Pages in Progress, a store that opened just after Thanksgiving last year. It is a beautiful, huge store and I just love to go there they have the best selection of paper and all the embellishments to go with it. The owners are so fun and Kristan & I had a fun visit. Kris was writing orders and I was shopping..go figure. I found some of the greatest papers and can't wait to use them in my classes. Just as we were leaving it started to POUR.. It is a long dark drive back to Phoenix in good weather.. but in a downpour . . . Nope . . didn't want that possibility.. So we decided to wait out the storm and the girls at the store said they would wait with us.. If finally slowed down in about 45 minutes and Kristan and I took off. We were starved, so we stopped and had a quick bite to eat and then headed north.. It was just sprinkling a little..but what was amazing was the light show overhead.. Constant lightening, hitting every couple of seconds and illuminating the
sky overhead the entire trip.
We would hit pockets of deluge and then it would lighten up.. the traffic was very light and I liked having a semi up in front of me to watch his tail lights. I tried to keep my jaw relaxed, but I can tell this morning that I must have had my jaw clenched, it is sore.. So we finally made it to Phoenix and noticed debris all over the roads and tons of police cars with flashing lights all over the freeways.. and most of the lights along the freeway were out so the drivers were all going slow, thanks goodness. Arrived at Kristan's and dropped her off and proceeded home.. The lightening was still very active and it was raining lightly at my home, so I just went to bed. I was "startled" awake at 12:15 a.m. by bangs against my windows.. I was so scared.. I couldn't imagine what was happening and then I looked outside to see gumball size hail.. plummeting my windows and covering everything in a blanket of white.. In the illuminated sky I could see the golf course completely covered in white.. It only lasted about 5 minutes, but I honestly thought it was going to break all my windows, my blinds were shaking as much as I was.. WOW.. What a night.. But we were home safe with no damage to our homes.. This morning the weather bureau reported that it was hurricane strength winds and the worst storm in the valley's history in 20 years.. So glad to see the sun come up this morning..

I knew it was quite the storm, but I didn't know it was that impressive! I had hail, too, and I was a good deal worried about my roof and windows those few hours! All safe and sound, here, too, though.
